Dr. Clarissa Ribeiro (b. 1977, BR) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, and former Program Director of the Roy Ascott Studio’s Advanced Program in Technoetic Arts in Shanghai. A Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar at the UCLA Art|Sci Center (Los Angeles, 2013–2014) and recipient of the Pete Townshend Endowed Senior Lectureship in Performative Technoetics (Shanghai, 2022–2024), her research investigates the intersections of art, science, and technology, examining the metaphysics of informational exchange across biological, computational, ecological, and cultural systems from cross-scale and non-local perspectives. She serves in curatorial, editorial, and peer-review roles for international organizations and conferences, including Leonardo/ISAST, Leonardo Graduate Abstracts (LGA), ISEA, ACM SIGGRAPH, and the Expanded Animation Symposium, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Technoetic Arts: A Journal of Speculative Research. She is also a member of the College Art Association (CAA) and The Historians of British Art (HBA), serves on the CAA Council of Readers, and has chaired LASER Talks in Brazil since 2017 and at the Roy Ascott Studio in Shanghai since 2023, establishing the first LASER Talks program in South America.
