Ella Raidel (AT/SG) is an artist, filmmaker, and Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University Singapore’s School of Art, Design and Media. Her practice-led research explores the intersections of cinema, immersive media, urban transformation, and ecological imaginaries. Working across film, video, performance, installation, and cinematic VR, she investigates how emerging technologies can enable new forms of documentary storytelling and more-than-human perspectives. Her recent project, Hidden Treasure Walks: A Virtual Immersive Cultural Experience in Singapore, combines a location-based audio journey with cinematic VR to engage with Singapore’s threatened forest ecologies. In 2022, she received the Outstanding Artist Award in Feature and Documentary Film from the Austrian Ministry for Culture. Her monograph, Of Haunted Spaces: The Films of Ella Raidel, was published by NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore in 2023. Her award-winning works have been presented internationally at film festivals, museums, exhibitions, and expanded cinema platforms.
