Kevin Blackistone (US/AT) is a media artist and researcher using immersive, tangible, participatory and performative elements as tools for exploratory engagements. His current focus investigates the networks of cross-interactions between our human organism(s), its habitats & inhabitants, and their technological interrelations from cultural, medical and ecological perspectives. These works are produced using a combinatory approach of technologies including animation, biosensors, kinetics, ambisonics, bio-art, physical interfaces and AI realized through fixed media, interactive installation, performance and combinations there-of. His research background includes a BA in Intermedia and Digital Arts (US), post-bac fellowship research with the National Institute of Health’s Laboratory of Neurogenetics (US), and MAs in Interface Cultures (AT) and Postdigital Lutherie (AT). He has exhibited, performed, and presented works at festivals, venues and conferences including Mapping Festival (CH), Ars Electronica Festival (AT), Light City (US), NIME, ICMC, Siggraph Asia, xCoAx, Zeiss-Großplanetarium(DE), Miraikan (JP) and City Digital Skin Arts. He presently works as an independent artistic researcher in immersive animation and installation and guest lectures workshops including the recent ‘Interactive Narratives in Immersive Performance & Movement’ at University of Arts Linz (in collaboration with Anton Bruckner University and supported by the Ars Electronica Futurelab).
