Michael Lankes (AT) is Professor for Digital Media at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus Hagenberg, where he also serves as coordinator of the Master’s program in Digital Arts, and lecturer at the University of Regensburg. His research explores the intersections of game design, human–computer interaction, and digital arts, with a particular interest in transience in games, gaze-based interaction, and playful extended reality experiences. He has been involved in numerous national and international research projects, including FWF and EU-funded initiatives, and has held a Fulbright Visiting Scholar position at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His work has been published in leading venues such as CHI, CHI PLAY, and FDG, and he regularly contributes to the academic community as associate chair and organizer of international conferences.
