Mona Hedayati (IR/CA) is an Iranian-Canadian artist with a dual doctorate in artistic research and interdisciplinary humanities from Belgium and Canada, soon to start her postdoctoral research at Cambridge University. Her work draws on performance, computation art, sound design, and sensory studies. She studied digital media and social-political art and design for her MA and MRes respectively. Hedayati’s work has been constantly informed by bringing audiences together to think of building otherly social constitutions even if in a live performative context only. She has designed participatory performances to question the individualist attitudes and explore speculative scenarios of sociality. As a medium-agnostic artist, Hedayati has worked across a diverse array of physical and digital media to compose her performances. As a result, she has shared her work at an array of international venues including Fylkingen New Music and Intermedia Center (SE), Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence (DE), Ars Electronica x3 (AT), NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival (US), Kunsthal Extra City (BE), IMPAKT Center for Media Culture (NL), Body Electric Retrospective (CA), Kasko Center for Art and Performance (CH), MESH Festival (CH), Barents Spektakel (NO), among many others. To compose these works she has participated at numerous artist residencies including Cité Internationale des Arts (FR), Bergen Center for Electronic Arts (NO), WorkspaceBrussels Lab for research and creation in performing arts (BE), and most recently Sound Art Lab (DK).
