Yuhanxiao Ma

Yuhanxiao (Maggie) Ma (CN/US) is a US-based multimedia artist and PhD researcher at the University of Washington’s Department of Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS). Through installation, sculpture, interactive media, and performance, she examines how scientific, medical, and technical systems shape bodies, labour, and lived experience. Her work often takes the form of speculative worlds that borrow the visual and procedural languages of institutions while remaining deliberately incomplete. Viewers are invited to enter, operate, or help complete these systems, bringing ideas of progress, efficiency, and authority into contact with situated, embodied experience.
Ma’s current research centers on evidentiary interfaces, embodied technical knowledge, and the histories of labour embedded within scientific and technical systems. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and her research has been presented through publications and conferences across media art, design, and technology.
