Yuichiro Katsumoto (JP) is an artist and educator based in Saitama, Japan. His practice explores the relationship between letters and images through linear materials such as strings, ribbons, springs, chains, and needles. By releasing lines from the flat surface into physical space, he creates kinetic typography, motion graphics, and poetic systems of movement.

Katsumoto earned his Ph.D. from Keio University in 2010 and later worked as a researcher at the National University of Singapore. Since returning to Japan in 2018, he has taught design at Tokyo Denki University, where he leads The Utsuroi Lab.

His works have been presented at ACM SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Ars Electronica, Sónar+D, FILE, and Tokyo Game Show. He has received multiple honors at the Japan Media Arts Festival, as well as the Tokyo TDC Prize and the A’ Design Award Platinum Award. He also serves as Art Gallery Chair for SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
